My Students

Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, creative and strong willed. As English language learners & dual language learners, vocabulary, pronunciation, knowledge of letters, and letter sounds are so important to my students.

It is important that all of my students, especially my English Language Learner students have various activities, manipulatives and visuals to provide them opportunities to learn the English language.

I want to provide my student with many opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and to show their understanding of the things they are learning about.

My Project

Sight words play an important role in first grade. I have seen a huge gap in sight word knowledge in my first grade classrooms. A few students know many sight words, but many students only recognize a handful of words. I want to create engaging sight word centers for my students to learn from and practice their sight words with.

These games and activities will help reinforce the sight words that I am teaching in class and create a fun atmosphere for my students to practice what they are learning.

This way my students will have a fun activity or game to play to practice what I am teaching.
