This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders have been learning at home for over two months and we are approaching our last month of school and are still learning from home. They are logging into zoom meetings, working on computer programs, and completing packets at home. However, we are missing seeing each other face to face. So I have been stopping by every one of my students' houses to read stories to them from the sidewalk. I'm beginning to make my second round and am running out of stories to read!

My Project

My students and I have been learning at home for more than two months and we have been able to accomplish so much from home. However, it is hard on all of us to not be able to see each other face to face. So, I decided to start visiting my students on their sidewalks to read stories to them. We call them Sidewalk Storytimes. It has been so fulfilling to be able to see my students in person. Sometimes we end up reading for over 2 hours.

I'm beginning my second round of story times and am running out of new books to read to my kids!

This project is full of stories that are by our favorite authors and about our favorite topics so I can keep reading and connecting with my students from the sidewalk.
