Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard-working Hispanic and African American students whose families care a lot about their success. In my school, almost every student qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. Over 90 percent are Hispanic, and many of them will be the first person in their families to graduate from college.
My Project
Dental caries and periodontal diseases exert tremendous social, economic, and financial burdens on a global scale. According to a study by https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4209617/ showed that the mean plaque and gingival score reduction was significantly higher in the study groups as compared to the control groups.
An increase in the mean of Decayed, missing, filled teeth (DMFT) and Decayed, missing, filled teeth and surfaces (DMFS) scores throughout the study period was seen in children who participated in the study.
I want to help my students develop this life-long habit of brushing their teeth. It is important for their health and welfare that they not only hear about it during Health Science class but that they have the tools that will prevent cavities, tooth decay, and other dental ailments.
The toothbrushes and flossers will help my students have a healthier mouth and be more attentive in class and come to school ready to learn.
