Shuffle My Classroom Stories

My students need six iPod Shuffles to listen to our weekly classroom stories and digital audio books.

This project is fully funded

I teach what I consider the best third grade class. The class is comprised of an evenly diverse population. My students are absolutely terrific. I found this year that the students in my class are mostly auditory learners and need additional academic support and materials to succeed. I have students that are Second Language Learners and excel by listening to the weekly stories. Our school and our students are wonderful, but we are a public school facing the series of budget crunches (like many schools) and depend on supporters to help our children.

This project is designed to help those students that learn best from auditory methods. Using iPods in the classroom will give my students the independence and self confidence they need to build their reading comprehension skills. My students love technology and by using the iPods, students will be able to develop a stronger interest in the weekly classroom stories, lessons from the science and social studies book, and numerous audio books.

In order to help my auditory learners, I am asking for six iPods for all student to use. The iPods will be uploaded with playlists each week to include the weekly Imagine It! Reading Series stories, the chapter lessons from our class social studies and science text books, and audio books that correspond to books in the classroom library. The benefit is the outcome of what they learned.

By choosing to support this project, your will be supporting the excitement and imagination of my students They will build confidence with technology and strengthen their reading skills by listening to facts/details. This project is important to me as it helps meet the needs of all students, including those who learn more from listening. I strongly feel that every student should be able to succeed regardless of learning styles.
