My Students
"We need joy as we need air. We need love as we need water. We need each other as we need the earth we share." -Maya Angelou
My students are from one of the largest districts in the state, but live in and attend school in a low-income neighborhood.
Resources are often limited.
My Project
Our students receive important documents that contain their personal information such as their address or social security number. We stress the importance of keeping these type documents in a private place so that their information is not exposed to the public. Sometimes students will leave the documents in the open or toss them directly in the trash, which leaves the opportunity for someone else to get their personal information.
Having access to a paper shredder will teach students how to properly discard documents containing personal information.
This is important for them to learn so that they will continue to protect their private information as adults and cut down the risk of major issues such as identity theft. This paper shredder will keep their information safe and teach them how to properly discard personal documents.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
