My Project
My students come from a variety of cultural & socio-economic backgrounds. For many students, school is the first place they may learn about the importance of recycling.
In an effort to address a lack of recycling within the community, students will use these materials to raise awareness about why recycling is so important.
The chart paper and markers will be used to create posters, images, and cartoons to be hung around the school & community about recycling. By hanging these posters in schools, students hope to remind their peers to recycle their plastic drink bottles when they are finished with them in school. They will also remind students about the importance of recycling at home.
The Recycling Plastics by Density Class Kit will help students demonstrate to themselves and others why sorting discarded plastics helps make recycling more effective. This kit will allow students to test various types of plastics in their lives and learn how to identify each item by recycle number to determine how the plastic should be recycled in their community.
