This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All my students are learning to speak English in my kindergarten classroom. We are a Title 1 School as more than 70% of our student population is on the federally funded lunch program.
My school has a great library of guided reading books that I can use to teach my kindergarten students to read, but this library is shared by all the 30 teachers on our campus. It is important that no books go home, because books are often lost this way. I want to create my own classroom guided reading library so that my students can take their books home to read with their parents.
The requests I made would create a comprehensive collection of guided reading books that could go home with my students.
If you would fulfill my request, you would be providing my students with multiple opportunities to practice their new reading skills in a meaningful way.
