This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Students

Our school community is a vibrant blend of cultures, languages, and identities.

My students are curious, compassionate, and eager to see themselves and others reflected in the stories they read. Many come from multilingual homes and diverse backgrounds. They thrive when they see books that celebrate who they are and introduce them to voices from across the world.

My Project

We are building a classroom library that reflects the world we live in — one that uplifts stories about racial justice, equal rights, women’s empowerment, and multilingual voices. But we have one major challenge: we don’t have the proper space to highlight these books and make them accessible and inviting.

With your support, we’re hoping to add a few sturdy, accessible bookshelves that will proudly display these books, making them a central, visible part of our learning environment. These shelves will hold stories in Spanish, Arabic, Haitian Creole, and more, alongside powerful books that center around racial equity, LGBTQ+ pride, feminism, and social change.

Why It Matters

Representation matters. When students see their culture, language, and identity in books, it validates who they are and builds empathy for others. By showcasing these stories proudly — not tucked away in boxes or crowded piles — we send the message that every voice matters, and every story deserves to be seen.

This project will not only help us organize our inclusive library, but also create a welcoming space where all students feel seen, valued, and empowered.
