My Project

Using art to showcase language and cultural learning experiences can be a creative and engaging way for Japanese language learners at KHS to express their understanding of the language and culture. This lesson plan is designed to help students create an art project that reflects their language proficiency and cultural knowledge. It is assumed that students have already acquired a basic understanding of the Japanese language and culture. This is my 3rd and 4th year Japanese class and they have worked hard all these years, and they want to share what they experienced.

These 3rd and 4th year Japanese students are some of my last “Covid” students.

Some of these students were just entering high school when the covid pandemic hit and they were the most affected. These students have done online class, hybrid classes, and in class class with masks and 6 feet apart. This year is their first year of finally going back to some normalcy. This project will help them finally be able to do some normal projects that will help them adjust to normal school activities by:

Collaboration and Teamwork:Working together on a creative endeavor fosters a sense of community and helps students develop social skills. Collaborative projects can also create a supportive environment where students can learn from each other and build positive relationships.

Creative Expression: Engaging in art allows students to express themselves creatively. This form of self-expression can be emotionally fulfilling and serves as an outlet for students to communicate thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The freedom to create and make choices in the artistic process contributes to their emotional well-being.

Cultural Appreciation: This exposure to diverse perspectives can enhance students' understanding of the world, fostering empathy and a sense of connection with other cultures.
