My Project
My students love to read. They yearn for great new books that represent their lives, histories, and cultures.
Representation in books empowers and supports students’ academic success.
My goal is that students see themselves in the books they read. Our population is wonderfully diverse and thus our books should be as well. Diverse books give students the opportunity to read about lives different than theirs. Diverse books will help all of my readers.
I am requesting book displays that will feature biographies the library has already purchased that celebrate diverse amazing people throughout history written by and featuring people of diverse races, identities, heritages, and beliefs. My students love to read. Students yearn for great new books that represent their lives, histories, and cultures. The books currently on our shelves do not truly nor fully represent our student population.
I am requesting books written by and featuring people of different races, identities, heritages, and beliefs. I am also requesting a display to showcase the books. Finally, just for a bit of fun, I am also requesting bookmark holders to display amazing bookmarks also requested. I am also requesting clear labels to use when we re-organize the books in the display bins.
