My students need individual whiteboards to be able to explain, show, and model their thinking for each subject. These white boards not only allow for student voice, they also allow for differentiation and individualized additional support.
I am a passionate teacher who works hard to constantly encourage my students to take academic risks and be enthusiastic learners.
I strive to create a learning environment where student feel safe and valued as individuals so that they are ready to learn.
I teach in a Title 1 neighborhood school that serves may military families. Students in our school come from a variety of backgrounds and enter the classroom with a large range of skill sets. This year is a unique challenge as I have multiple grade levels teaching a 1st and 2nd grade split class. Each day I try to develop engaging instruction that not only meets the academic needs of each student where they are, but also encourages positive attitudes towards school.
My Project
Allowing students to have their own individual white boards will not only provide each student the chance to show their thinking and have hands on learning, but it will also ease transitions and make our class time more effective. These whiteboards are specifically designed to be a quick and functional tool to support student needs in reading, math, social studies, and science.
This resource will allow me to differentiate and provide each student with the direct supports and scaffolding they need to be successful in the classroom in all areas of learning.
Students thrive when they are able to not only share their thinking verbally but to show and model it with writing or pictures. These whiteboards would be such a great addition to effective teaching and increase my student's engagement during whole group, small group, and mini lessons.
