I am a first grade teacher at a public school. My students are excited about learning and want to excel in school. I have a large range of learning abilities in my classroom. My students come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs.
My students are sweet and they are excited and ready to learn, explore, and take on the world.
They are excited from the time they get off the bus in the morning to when they leave at night.
We need a set of the book "Giraffes Can't Dance" to learn how to show compassion to others. With light-footed rhymes and high-stepping illustrations, this tale is gentle inspiration for every child with dreams of greatness by showing compassion to Gerald and helping him overcome his fears of being in front of others in a large group.
I want them to be compassionate and accept others for who they are. The book "Giraffes Can't Dance" is a favorite of mine. I read it to my class every year so the children understand we are all special and need to show compassion to those who may feel differently than us. Gerald is afraid to be in front of others and in front of large groups. The book shows us that being compassionate and kind to each other makes our community a place to grow ourselves as people. We will create a chart to graph the different ways to show compassion and and tally chart for how many times we observe compassion in our classroom and our school community. This will remind us how to accept others with compassion and be kind despite our differences.
