This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My scholars are a tight knit group in a very small school (K-8), where most have grown up together since Kindergarten. Our school has a great feeling of family. They look out for each other, even at this tough age. They have HEART: they Have a positive attitude, they Expect success, they Accept responsibility, they Respect themselves and others, and they Think before acting.

I am inspired by my scholars each and every day.

They are explorers, inventors, creators, critical thinkers, engineers, and mathematicians.

My Project

These products will help my scholars show what they know in mathematics and use tools appropriately as required in the eight Mathematical Practices. The dry erase pockets and erasers are versatile tools that can be used as a blank whiteboard, with graph paper, and additional practice/game boards.

In addition to the versatile whiteboards, I have included some measurement tools that will help support topics including angles, circles, shapes, area, perimeter, surface area, and volume.

I have found that the smaller protractors are more successful for the students when measuring angles and I want to provide all possible tools for students to learn and use what is successful for them.

The safe-T compasses are great tools for any subject and are frequently used in math, history, and science to create posters to show their learning. The clear, but color-coded rulers allow students to see the shapes they are measuring and stay organized so that everyone has the tools they need each class period. I color code my table groups for the best possible organization. The zipper file bags will be the storage pockets for the compasses, rulers, and protractors.
