My students need a Longjoy Digital Portable Document Camera, a Smart Pico Wireless Projector and a presentation station to share their strategies in Math, ELA, and Social Studies, creating academic discourse at the beginning and end of each activity.

My Students
My students attend the oldest elementary school in the nation, but our school often struggles to provide necessary supplies and classroom materials due to yearly budget cuts. My 4th graders come to my classroom with a diverse range of needs, challenges and experiences, and problems can arise from a lack of understanding about each other's cultures and lives.
My students are from African American and white American families, as well as recent immigrants from Vietnam, Cape Verde, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic, and they are learning how to become serious students in the United States.
Some of my students are accustomed to 50 person classes where they only have access to materials in one way, and these superscholars need help with accessing information via different modalities.
My Project
This year we are working on creating healthy academic discourse. There is no better way to do so than to allow students to show their work and to provide many opportunities for rich discussion about scholars' work. At the beginning of each year, students arrive extremely shy to present their thinking to the class or ask questions about peers' work.
They absolutely love being able to use technology to show off all of their fantastic strategies.
By being able to use wireless projectors and a mobile document camera, they will be able to show their work and create discussions from different areas in the classroom. They will not be limited to one area. Students will gain more confidence and feel more at ease when showing their strategies in class.
