My students are an incredibly sweet, inquisitive group, always excited to learn new things. They ask a lot of questions when there is an opportunity to explore.
Our class mission statement is, "We will work together to have fun and be our best; we can make our dreams come true!" We wrote it together and repeat it every day.
They are great at supporting and encouraging each other.
Our school is a Title 1 school where over half receive free or reduced lunches. We are in a rural area, but my students all live in town. I have several ESL students. Their academic abilities range from considerably below grade level to well above grade level.
My Project
We all know how crucial money management skills are. Unfortunately, some of my students do not have many opportunities to learn about earning and using money wisely at home. These books and games will enable my students to learn, review, and practice healthy attitudes and habits about money in fun ways.
My students will play and replay "Main Street Shopping" and "Making Cents", along with "Producers and Consumers Hands-On Activities" and other games.
The books will be read during lessons as well as independent reading time. These experiences will help my students internalize financial matters and will enrich them throughout their lives.
