This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere. My 3rd-grade class is in a high-need, low-income public school, nestled in the heart of southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.
Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels.
As a teacher, it is my job to make sure the students have access to the materials they need, at all times, as well as use those materials in a way that will facilitate higher learning and achievement.
My Project
My students LOVE to read. They read all day long in my classroom and can't get enough of all different types of books. From nonfiction trade books to graphic novels to historical fiction to picture books, my students are enchanted by anything literature.
The only problem we have is that we don't have enough storage to keep all of the amazing books we have in class!
This bookcase we are asking for is just the thing we need to keep our books not only neat and tidy but out and on display for all to see. New book titles will get a chance to shine and old favorites will be able to be front and center in this bookcase. It will help us to ensure that we are constantly reading new things because of the way they are displayed on this shelf. Having this storage space will be key to keeping our library even more active than it already is.
