My Students

We spend our days learning from each other through inquiry, good literature, and conversation. Now that we've reached the halfway point of our school year, we are confident enough to share our knowledge and ideas with each other.

My classroom is filled with 24 Fabulous Firsties that learn through an IB curriculum everyday.

We're pretty chatty, but that's because we have so many connections to the learning that we want to share with each other. Although our backgrounds are very diverse, the one thing we have in common is that we all love to participate and be engaged in our reading, writing, and math lessons!

My Project

We need materials that allow the Firsties to share their knowledge with each other. A document camera will give them the opportunity to put their work up on our board for all to see. Math clocks and magnetic letters give students a chance to show their work, rather than fill out a worksheet, in a small group setting. Non-fiction listening centers give students a chance to practice their note-taking skills.

My students are at a place where they are really wanting to share their knowledge and incredible work with each other.

This can be such a wonderful learning opportunity, definitely lends itself to a cooperative learning community, and I love when they become the teachers. All of these materials provide the students with a way to show their learning, which then gives them a platform to bounce off of when they verbally explain their thinking or knowledge with us.
