My Students

I have the joy of working at a k-5 elementary building with a great staff and even better students. I work in the classrooms with the students and teachers but also work directly with about 45 elementary students, ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade, throughout the day in a small group setting as a math interventionist. During my intervention groups, I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group/partner work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are.

My students are enthusiastic, hard working students who love to get their hands on manipulatives to explore math concepts and I'd like to optimize their learning environment to help them be the most productive and successful version of themselves that they can be.

My Project

I work with groups of 6-8 students who need a little extra math support. The students work on building their abstract thinking by using manipulatives before moving into the pictorial stage. We often work on small white boards but this table would give students a bigger space to demonstrate their thinking in numbers and pictures.

The students build confidence when they can demonstrate their work and share their ideas.

This table will allow students to solve problems and write calculations right on the table where they are using manipulatives. The table will also allow them to see other students' strategies!
