My Project
Learning about Science should be very fun and engaging! One of the units in our 1st grade curriculum is Light and Sound.
Viva Las Vegas!
After going on a recent field trip to the Neon Museum my students were able to see to historical signs from the city we live in. After learning about artificial and natural light, the students had the opportunity to experiment with creating their own light up sign. My students were so engaged with the activity provided at the end of the trip. I would love to add a new entity to my light unit in my classroom. Not only is this activity teaching about light but it also allows them to be creative. I loved how all my students were immediately engaged and participating, even my most challenging students. All my students felt successful and wanted to continue to create more designs to light up.
If I had this in my classroom I could use this as a fun follow up activity at a center and extend across the curriculum by creating shapes, signs, writing stories, economics and more. This will enhance my classroom environment not only in Science, but across all academic subjects. In addition in will help promote positive behavior when used as a reward.
