Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember how much fun it was to work on group projects when you were in school? I like to have my students be active learners and work collaboratively together.
My 5th grade students are a motivated and enthusiastic group of learners.
They attend a high needs public school in NYC. Some of them have learning disabilities, and learn best through hands-on activities and group work. Despite the learning struggles they face, they complete creative and amazing projects.
My Project
My students need chart paper to display their group work. When they are working in a group, each person can record and share his/her ideas on the chart paper. They can use this chart paper during a presentation. For math assignments, they can show different methods to solve a problem. In addition, they need plain paper to print their written projects, such as essays or research papers. They can also use the plain and colored paper to be creative and draw diagrams and pictures to go along with their projects.
My students will be able to learn creatively through group projects if they have these materials.
It will also provide them with a chance to show what they have learned in different forms, such as giving presentations, writing papers, or creating an art display.
