Show Me What You Know! - Dry Erase White Boards for Math

My students need 24 individual dry erase boards with markers so they can each "show me what they know" during math practice.

I teach at an intermediate school which includes 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I have an awesome class of 20 3rd graders. They are motivated learners who want to do their best, and they need lots of practice in math.

You would not believe how excited my kids became the first time I said "Who wants to go to the board and show us how they solved problem #3?" Most hands waved in the air, but I could only call a few at a time to the board. The other students try to sit patiently as I call five kids at a time to the board. I want everyone to have a chance to "show me what they know" as I call it, and since they are so excited, I am not about to not call someone to the board to solve a problem! I can't skip anyone, yet it takes quite awhile to have each student come to the board and for me to check their work.

If I had a class set of individual dry erase boards and markers, I could have every student solve the problems at their desks at the same time. I can picture their enthusiasm when I tell them to hold up their boards facing me and I can quickly scan the room and see who understands and who needs more practice. With this project, they will each get to solve the problem in a fun way so they get more practice time and less time sitting and waiting for classmates to take their turn at the big white board.

I love how enthusiastic my kids get when we work in class, and I know that with these materials they will find it fun to do math! If their hands wave excitedly at the idea of writing one problem on the board with a marker, imagine how excited they would be to have their own board and get to hold it up with everyone else. Third graders get so excited over this type of activity and your generosity will help to promote their learning.
