This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students come from all over the world. We want them to be as successful as possible in this country. Some of them are brand new to the concept of negative numbers. The colored counting chips will help students to visualize the positive and negative integer operations they are working on in math class.
Financial literacy is very important for everyone.
While middle school class time is not typically set aside for education in finances, I try to include it each school year. The students need money sets to practice "earning" and "spending" money in real-world examples. For example, they learn how to spend a paycheck on rent and groceries, as well as budgeting for entertainment. The students also need practice counting money and making change to prepare for future jobs. On Teachers Pay Teachers, other teachers have created very engaging lessons for integers and money skills.
