I teach forty-five nine and ten-year-old students who are from a variety of cultural backgrounds, some of who are just learning to speak English. Other students are native speakers with a variety of strengths and skills.
I frequently tell my students to show their work when we are working through math problems.
They love to do this on our classroom whiteboards as well as the individual ones. These visuals help to promote understanding and show their thinking.
These sets of dry erase markers and erasers will be used daily by my students. They are constantly coming up to the whiteboard during our math class to illustrate and explain their thinking.
Often, it is very helpful for students to have access to a variety of colors when showing their work.
Color is a great way to illustrate the different steps needed to solve a problem. It is also a way for students to categorize their ideas and make their thinking more understandable.
I will also use these supplies when I teach new and review skills to my students.
