I am fortunate to work in an inquiry-based preschool program that supports and encourages children's natural sense of curiosity and wonder. We continuously shape our curriculum based on students' interests, questions and ideas. We believe in the value of experiential, project-based learning.
Our students spend a great deal of time both indoors and outdoors, investigating, creating, constructing and imagining.
They are encouraged to share their thoughts, questions and ideas with others. We strive to nurture our students' individual and collective talents and interests.
My Project
Whether my students have a fully remote schedule or a blended schedule, they should be given the utmost learning experience under these unforeseen circumstances. A document camera will help me share various materials such as anchor charts, mentor texts and math manipulatives. It will help my students to feel connected to school as much as possible when remote.
For this class project my class would have virtual access to see the lessons and read alouds on a screen with the document camera.
With many of our books not available online, a document camera will still allow my students to read with me as I teach.
When students are learning in the classroom, I will be better able to share their work while keeping them socially distanced. I will be able to show them fine details in mentor pictures and texts that would normally be difficult for them to see without the option of zooming in, like you can with a document camera.
As long as I have the tools necessary to make my teaching engaging and effective for all, my students can thrive and become more sophisticated learners while they are in person or remotely.
