My Students

Do you remember "Show and Tell" when you were in elementary school? You bring in your favorite stuffed animal and tell all about why you love it... Well how about "Show and TEACH" instead? Kids love to share and why not combine their love of learning with their love of sharing with the class?

A very important life skill is knowing how to communicate with others.

The best way for that is presenting opportunities for my students to discuss learning with each other and doing group projects together. I have noticed over the past few years that the more often I have kids get up in front of each other and talk about their learning, the more confident they become and the more they want to learn. "Show and Teach" will help my students because they will be taking books and activities to learn about at home and then will come back to the class and report what they learned.

My Project

The items I need for this project are simple. I need a lot of books for the kids to take home and read. I have chosen 2 books on each "Show and Teach" topic. The topics are mostly science and social studies related, such as rocks and minerals and patriotism. I need 3 ring binders for each topic which will include the tools and activities the students will need at home. That's it!

I know how hard it is for parents to buy books for their kids to read at home, especially during these tough economical time.

I am hoping the donors will see how important it is for children to be reading at home and learning how to share their love of learning and exploring with their peers. I also know this project will help the students in my class connect with their parents on an educational level and give them some fun quality time together!
