My Students
My students are voracious learners, makers, and artists. My 7th- and 8th-grade Art students are exuberant, intelligent, creative, and so much fun to work with. We use our education and practice in the Visual Arts to connect student learning to all other academic areas, and also to real-life experiences. We teach a large population of immigrant newcomers and English Language Learners from all over the world. Our local environment is densely populated, creating a greater need for hands-on learning and exploration.
We encourage divergent thinking and creativity with STEAM influenced, Project-Based Arts Learning every day.
I know that this thinking and practicing creativity helps in all their other academic classes. I personally want to give them my best as an educator every day. This new project will help me do that. You can help me give them my best.
My Project
We're a newer school, and while that's amazing and wonderful: we have so few display areas to use that protect student art-work and demonstrations of inquiry and research into their work.
Our students make amazing STEAM-based works and they deserve a chance to teach and inspire their peers and the public what they've learned!
This display case will help everyone at the school come to a central point where student work is shared and is freely available and easily accessible to all. This visual communication tool also helps to bridge STEAM classes together as the other teachers are easily able to see what we do. We're able to better collaborate as educators when we know what is going on in other classrooms and subjects. This is one of those small projects that will make a large, lasting impact upon many students, and thank you for helping us help our creative young people.
