Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching an exuberant and delightful group of kindergartners this year in Los Angeles. We have been distance learning since August and half of my students are returning in person. It is my first year in this district and I am slowly building my new classroom. I'm eager to continue to engage my students online and in person and to cultivate a long lasting love for learning in their introductory years to school.
My Project
In kindergarten, students are learning to read, write and share their math thinking. A teacher easel will allow for modeling early reading skills, writing and drawing on a large scale. Students benefit from strong modeling techniques including seeing how to point to each word as they read and how to form letters. The easel I chose includes storage space to store markers, pens, colored pencils, highlighting tape and other great tools used for instruction. Finally, the ridge allows for me to rest other boards for instruction on the easel. This is a must-need piece of furniture in my classroom!
