My students need a new shelf in our blocks center so they could easily access our blocks materials along with being able to store them away in an organized matter.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all come from low-income households and school is their place to interact with others their age. It is also where they get to engage with other adults since most have families where their parents are working almost all day. Our school is small and resources for our students are not easily accessible. But despite that, our preschoolers are always eager to learn and come to school. We allow them to become who they want to become as they begin their journey to Kindergarten and towards their future.
Although funds at our school are not usually available or are very scarce, we do the best that we can with what we have and our children are always eager and excited to be at school.
We are like their second family and there is nothing better than seeing my children's smiling faces when they enter my classroom.
My Project
The shelf I am requesting is something my students have been asking me for. Currently in our blocks area, we have materials that are separated by two shelves, one that is too tall and one that is short and has no backing. Whenever my children clean-up, the items either fall out through the back of the one shelf or they struggle placing blocks in the tall shelf. They have actually said "Why don't you get a new one?" and "These toys are always falling down!"
This new shelf will not only help us organize our blocks center better, but it will help my children put the materials away hassle-free!
Teaching the children to clean-up after themselves is a very important part of our classroom routine and curriculum. This storage unit will help aide the children in becoming more organized during their play time in our Blocks Center.
