Help me give my students an amazing collective reading experience by giving them their own copies of a great read.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Boorstyn's classroom raised $500
This project is fully funded
My Project
We love reading short stories with our students--they pack so much emotional power into an accessible tale that students can savor, reread, and analyze deeply. We especially like teaching multiple stories by the same author, so students get a sense of the writer's craft and style, and can start thinking about their own writer's voice.
In the stories from "How to Pronounce Knife," young protagonists face challenges that are relatable for so many students, especially those whose families have immigrated from other countries.
Incredibly engaging and deeply affecting, these stories will grab the attention of our students, helping them identify with others as well as giving them the chance to interact with great literature.
We'll start reading stories together, then students will read in groups and discuss the thrilling, moving and surprising moments that characters live through in the book. It's an experience we hope will help make our students lifetime lovers of reading!
