Brooklyn Collaborative, opened in 2001, is located on the border between Carroll Gardens and Red Hook. A heterogeneous and diverse community, our student population of 650 in grades 6-12 comes from all over Brooklyn. We are a Title I school, meaning a majority of our students qualify for free lunch. In my 12th grade ELA class we prepare students for college with an intense personal narrative unit, followed by a study of psychological and sociological theories that we use to analyze classic and contemporary literature.
