My Students

I teach a group of eager and very active first-grade students whose needs range from talented and gifted, to students who need intensive interventions to be successful in school. A typical day in our first-grade classroom involves a lot of activity. The students are engaged in learning activities that get them moving, talking to their classmates, and asking great questions. You will not see a lot of worksheets in our classroom.

My students are learning through hands-on experiences and movement.

Hands-on learning is becoming more and more important in the classroom. It’s one thing to be able to read and write about what you are learning. It’s another thing to be able to apply it.

Hurricane Michael has left a lasting impression on our community. My sweet first graders have been through so much over the past year.

My Project

This project will be a financial literacy project in first grade. Students will learn all about goods and services during a Economics Unit. After completing the unit, the students will set up a small business around school to sell "goods" such as framed pictures and pieces of artwork handmade by them. We are requesting a SD card, bags, and stools for our project. We will set up shop and the stools will be where our cashiers sit. The products we will be selling is pictures taken by the students. We absolutely cannot wait to get busy learning all about saving and spending money. The consumers will be students and staff around our campus. This hands on learning experience will surely be a huge hit and allow us to meet our financial literacy standards.
