Shooting For The Stars!

My students need an outdoor basketball hoop so that more than one team can practice at the same time.

My Students

Our school is a residential facility for children whose paths have led them astray, but they are now working to get back on track.

The students work very hard in school all day, and in the evenings. They participate in team sports to build a camaraderie that will help them through their treatment.

My Project

We have a full gym for practice, but we have eight teams that need to use it. The outdoor basketball hoop will allow us to accommodate more than one team at a time when the weather permits. Students will use this hoop to practice shooting the ball so that when they get gym time, they can focus on the game.

These students are working through a lot of problems.

Many of them have home lives that cause them to feel a lot of anger and stress. Through physical activities and team sports, they get out the frustration that keeps them from being successful. They have fun and build team spirit. By the time they leave our facility, they are healthier both physically and emotionally thanks to the opportunity to participate in sports.
