Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our campus serves approximately six hundred and thirty-five students, grades seventh through eighth and between the ages of twelve to fourteen. Our students are a full spectrum with diverse races, cultures, socioeconomic statuses, and interests. Ethnically our students: approximately 87% are minorities, with 45% Latin American, 26% African American, and 13% Asian and Pacific Islander. One-fourth of our students are currently English Language Learners. Our students cover a full spectrum at our diverse campus. About twenty-five percent of our students are currently English Language Learners. Our special education students make up ten percent of the entire site.

Our science department is committed to helping students find joy in science and create a lifelong love and passion for science.

In my seventh grade science class, we learn about a huge spectrum of sciences, from life science to physical science. This is an amazing opportunity to ensure that all students can find some aspect of science they are passionate about wanting to further research.

My Project

We will be using the materials to learn about the flow of electricity through objects. Students are shockingly curious, but electricity is a potentially dangerous thing if handled incorrectly. We aim to create a safe and educational environment, but that requires us to obtain supplies that we are unable to afford without the assistance of others.

To allow students to interface with the electricity safely, we will need the multimeters to be the replacement for our senses, and wire strippers to help customize the wire length's for each specialized circuit.
