This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere. My 3rd-grade class is in a high-need, low-income public school, nestled in the heart of Southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.
Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels.
As a teacher, it is my job to make sure the students have access to the materials they need, at all times, as well as use those materials in a way that will facilitate higher learning and achievement.
My Project
This year, my students are learning 100% virtually from home. They have not been to school to see our classroom. They have not had the luxury of hands-on materials for various classroom projects. My students have been grabbing their own paper or pencils or crayons to complete any projects that we may do during our daily Zoom class. However, for this upcoming semester, I want to change that.
I would like to be able to mail students supplies for several upcoming fun projects with these flat rate, prepaid boxes from the USPS.
I have several projects in mind that require small, yet essential pieces that the kids will need to really immerse themselves in it.
During a normal year, I would buy these items and give them to the students in person. However, that is just not possible. So this year, these flat rate boxes will come in so handy to get the kids the supplies they need to be successful over Zoom in our distance learning school!
