My students need new viola shoulder rests so that they can properly support their instruments. The viola is a very popular instrument in our school orchestra. We have run out of shoulder rests. We really need these!
Our students love music. They are passionate about music and music-making. Music is what keeps them motivated to come to school. They excel in music, despite our school being situated in the midst of five federal housing projects.
Most, if not all, of our students come from homes of highest poverty.
Our school has a 70% highly disadvantaged rate.
Beautiful music comes out of our orchestra room. Our students play with great passion. Music is what they excel at. Our students would never have been able to play in an orchestra were it not for the school orchestra program.
My Project
New Viola shoulder rests will enable our violists to properly support their instruments so that they can play their instruments with good support. The viola is a very popular instrument in our school orchestra and we have run out of shoulder rests. Some of our violists have to resort to using kitchen sponges in place of real shoulder rests. Our students keep asking for shoulder rests.
The new and real shoulder rests will enable our students to make beautiful music without being hindered by poor positioning due to lack of proper support.
We would like all of our students to be able to play properly and the new shoulder rests will enable our students to do so.
