Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Even though they are starting their school career through a computer screen, I can tell already that my students are amazing! They log in to our zoom meetings on time, ready and enthusiastic to learn. About 50% of my students have attended preschool, and the other half have never attended school. Our school is approximately 100% free and reduced lunch and most students live below the poverty level. Our school is located in an area where gang activity, drive by shootings and drug abuse are common. Some of our students live in the nearby motels.
Despite the hardships some of their home lives may provide, they are ready each day with a big smile and a open mind that is ready to learn!
I do my best each day to make sure that happens. They all deserve a great education and opportunities to be involved, engaged, and find the love in learning.
My Project
By providing learning binders, writing journals, and binder pouches full of the learning supplies they need, students will have the tools they need to be organized and on task. We want our students to be proud of their progress and take pride in their learning.
When students take pride in and develop a sense of ownership over their own learning, the sky is the limit!
Even at this young age we can start them out on the right path to help them learn what they need to know and teach them the organization skills to be a productive and on task student.
