Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students in my class are energetic 3- and 4-year-old children who are experiencing school for the first time. As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district, many of my students are being raised in a single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. It's very important to support them in developing a love for school and learning.

My students learn through exploration and play.

Our classroom is designed to do things hands-on, so we are up, moving and using all of our energy in positive and meaningful ways! Our days are planned in advance with activities to meet the specific needs of the students. We are always actively engaged in our lessons and learning while we are having fun!

My Project

My students need a projector, projector stand and screen to help open up our classroom to the world. The projector and screen will allow students the opportunity to see different places, animals, books, and communities that they are curious to learn about.

Technology increases student engagement and benefits a range of learning styles.

This projector, screen and stand will help build vocabulary and provide opportunities to build background knowledge which helps students achieve in math and literacy. Another advantage is having access to online activities when we can't go outside due to weather. Since movement is such a big part of our preschool experience, we always need access to a variety of activities that allow us to move our bodies.
