My students need a small spot light to use in our black box theater productions.

As a magnet school for the arts, our school was rated as the number one high school out of 116 local public schools in 2007 by Children at Risk, a nonprofit organization. All students at our school spend 3 hours in their art area during the school day and then stay after school almost every day for practices and performances. For the theater students, this translates to hundreds of hours working not only as actors but also in crew or technical theater. The technical theater students need equipment to run that will engage them in the shows and provide them with opportunities for personal growth. Our school has proven that getting kids engaged in the arts can get them engaged in school. The graduation rate at our school is 98.6%.
Students at our school want to shine and stand out, but how can they do it when we do not have a spot light in our black box theater? Our students put on 3-6 shows/year and with the exception of the all school musical, all productions are held in our black box theater; a theater without a spotlight.
A small follow spot light would provide both the actors and the students in technical theater with the ability to create a more moving theatrical experience and a more positive learning environment.
This donation will all our students to shine and will empower them to continue with their studies.
