My spunky 5th grade students live in rural south central Kentucky. They are a loving and kind bunch of kiddos. With each challenge they face in the classroom, they exhibit a growth mindset. They truly enjoy learning and look forward to coming to school each day. They master new task daily. Whether it be coding, mathematics, or reading, they exhibit eagerness and excitement to grow as not only a student but as a human being. I am proud to teach such a wonderful bunch of kids.
Focus in the classroom is optimal; however, with big bodies in a small room, it sometimes makes that difficult. Privacy shields could make a world of difference in our classroom. I envision utilizing these not only during test time, to prevent cheating, but daily while using Chromebooks. Often others are distracted by their peer's computer. By setting up a small privacy shield, we can not only increase student focus but also eliminate some behavior issues, as well. Students will not be able to see what others score or levels they may be working on. It can truly put students in their own learning zone.
