Mrs. Sheehan from Birmingham AL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a classroom set of headphones to use the technology available to them.

I work in a large public school district where the majority of students come from alternative family situations such as grandparents, foster parents, or single family homes. They walk to school each day and walk home each afternoon. They have many obstacles to overcome just to get in our school each day.
I am a special education teacher in a large public school district and I work with students in grades K-5.
My students are unique, creative, inspiring, and passionate. They are often frustrated and lacking in self confidence due to a system that is not built to accommodate their individual abilities. It is my job and my pleasure to advocate for my students and ensure they have every opportunity to succeed against all the odds.
At my school we have technology available to students in the form of Chromebooks and iPads. However, we do not have enough headphones to use this technology in a classroom setting. I am asking for a classroom set of headphones to make it possible for my students to use headphones while working on educational programs to increase their reading levels and reading practice.
We often use technology to assist in accommodating students.
This project will allow my students to work on their computers without distraction from other students. It will allow students to use audio to hear their weekly story read to them. It will also allow students to work independently on their level and at their pace. The possibilities are endless with the right tools available to them.
