This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My eighth graders all have to submit a science exit project. Some of them will need to take pictures of their experiment along the way as a means of communicating their results at the end.
I work in a socioeconomically deprived area of Brooklyn.
Most students do not have access to any technology at home. Their parents are unable to afford much. They are excited about learning, but are limited at times by the lack of resources. They have very inquisitive minds.
My Project
I am requesting 1 digital camera and 1 memory card so that my students can display their work. This will additionally give them experience with a digital camera. This year, I would like them to enter the local science fair. I want them to be real competition and also to be proud to show their accomplishments.
Without this donation, some of my students may never know the use of a camera outside of this project.
Additionally, I will give them greater pride in their work. This allow them to combine technology and learning.
