My Project

"Secret Stories" is a brain-based approach to phonics that brings the study of words to life in an engaging and playful learning that deepens learning and makes it stick.

My students who are struggling readers and English Language Learners will be able to understand why letters make the sounds they do when utilized in words.

"Secret Stories" is a powerful tool that allows students to understand letter-sound correspondences. The "Secret Stories" make the rules of phonics more engaging for students. It is a whole-brain approach that gives logical explanations for the decoding of words. These stories will help my students understand the tricky parts of words. I will be able to learn about and teach the secret stories to my Title I struggling readers.

The materials that I am requesting will allow me to implement Secret Stories into my small-group phonics instruction.

I am using my data to lead my small group phonics instruction on their focus areas such as the p and h make the /f/ sound. I will use the flashcards to teach the specific skill by teaching the children the "Secret Story". The flashcards will be placed on a magnetic board for easy access. I need the flashcards to successfully implement this approach with my students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Through Teachers Pay Teachers, I will also purchase "Decoding Sight Words Part 1 and 2" to reinforce the skills they are learning.
