This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited to come to school everyday. They live in an area of high crime and high poverty. School is a safe and stable place. They know that they can find comfort here.

We are a “trauma informed” school.

We specialize in taking care of emotional and social needs to make sure that our students can focus. Basic needs must be met before one can concentrate on the academics.

We have a lot of work before us to ensure academic success. One of my goals is to provide access to information that my students may not have because of their backgrounds. I want to do the most I can for my beautiful little minds.

My Project

I have chrome books for my students to use, but no headphones. The classroom gets to be very noisy because five year olds need to hear what is going on on their devices.

Beginning readers need the online stories to be read to them.

They need to hear at a volume that is comfortable. We are often doing so many things at one time that it's difficult to concentrate. Students on the computers have a hard time, as well as students trying to read paperback books.

Please help us plug in to the 21st century in a respectful manner. We will keep what we listen to to ourselves, unless we just can't help but share with a friend.
