Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a low socioeconomic and often rough area of Los Angeles. Although they do not live in the best of neighborhoods, I strive to give them the best education for a brighter future.
My students are 24 energetic, inquisitive, smart 5-6-year-old students from diverse backgrounds in the dual language program.
They consist of 50% English Language Learners with a Latino background and 50% English only students with Latino and African American backgrounds. I love that my students are diverse in their backgrounds and in their Spanish abilities. They are able to learn from each other as they begin their journey into bi-literacy and bilingualism.
My Project
Our dual language classroom library needs some remodeling to make it a more inviting and organized place. A good bookcase is one of the items needed to house our many bilingual books. This bookcase is the perfect height for my kindergarten students. And the 3 tiered shelf would also be great to house all our books and not take up too much floor space, in an already limited space. I will be able to better organize and fit more books into our library for my students to read and enjoy.
