Shelf for Social-Emotional Stuff!

My students need a new shelf dedicated to books and activities for social emotional learning. This shelf will house books that focus on character development and activities that strengthen imagination and teamwork.

My Students

New experiences, new journeys, and new challenges: this embodies not only my students, but also my own exploration. This is my third year teaching literacy to kindergarten students. I've had a lot of experience working with kindergartners, but not in the comfort of my own homeroom. There are so many books, activities, resources, etc. out there that these young students deserve to explore.

I want my students to be explorers, authors, readers, and dreamers.

However, they need certain supplies to help them achieve their goals. As they begin their school journey, they need a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, where they can begin to explore, write, read, and dream. These students have a passion for reading and writing, and I'd love to foster their curiosity through fun and creative outlets.

My students hail from the city of Chicago.

My Project

Last year, my #1 goal was to strengthen our social-emotional curriculum for my kindergarteners. We were fortunate enough to receive some amazing, top-ranked hardcover texts and new building blocks, games, etc. for students to use on a daily basis. They created towers to work on teamwork, they used games to practice patience, and we ready MANY books to discuss failure, friendships, risk-taking, challenges, and much more.

However, we didn't have a designated space in the room to house all of these wonderful new social-emotional activities and texts.

I'd love a new sturdy shelf, where these young learners can access all these materials, when needed. This project also includes a few new texts that would be a wonderful addition to our social-emotional book bins.

This project would benefit students for many years to come!
