Help me give my students a shelf for their classroom materials and books.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Laila's classroom raised $657

My Students
Our students are eager to research and love to learn. Our class, the Pelicans, is a diverse group of students aged 6 to 9 years old. As their guide, I have the honor of providing them resources and lessons to meet each of their unique needs. They grow together as a family, caring for each other and their environment. Our classroom celebrates our differences as we come from all over New Orleans with diverse backgrounds and families.
“The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'" -Maria Montessori
Every day, I'm excited to see what they will teach me as their interests and personalities shine.
My Project
In a Montessori classroom, it's important that all learners are able to access materials just right for their learning. Right now, we are low on shelf space so materials are stacked. A beginning reader would need to ask for help from a teacher.
With a shelf like this, we would be able to put out materials for many, many levels!
Giving students access to a shelf with materials will help them grow in independence. Currently we have books and materials in book crates and stacked in cabinets. With a beautiful and compelling work environment, students are able to take pride in their space and care for the materials.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
