Help me give my students manipulatives for our light table. Sensory materials, beads, balls and rings are perfect for scooping, pouring and sifting. Other materials such as blocks are great for STEM building.
Charles Dickens wrote, "I love these little people and it is not a slight thing then they, who are so fresh from God love us." For many children, Pre-K is the first formal step in their academic career. It is an honor to teach our youngest learners as they begin this lifelong journey.
Our Pre-K class is a happy place where kids engage, explore, create, and problem-solve through purposeful play.
Center activities are designed around the collaboration between students. Hands-on activities are planned with various sensory input giving students multiple avenues for learning.
At our school Pre-K is a full day and our class is bustling with 22 students. They are full of energy, noisy, funny, cute, and exhausting! Above all, they are little sponges that soak up all the learning I provide for them.
My Project
Manipulatives and sensory play are a cornerstone of early learning. Our PreK class was blessed with a light table and now we need the translucent materials to go with it.
Students will use both free exploration and guided practice while using the manipulatives on the lighted table.
Light will pass through the manipulatives giving them an added dimension to learning. Students will learn while playing!
Having these manipulatives will give my students a great foundation for beginning mathematical skills including but not limited to geometry, measurement, spatial sense, patterning, and numeration.
