Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will benefit all students looking for a relaxing, sensory regulated environment during the school day. The items will be placed in a sensory room being created for our school. This room will be utilized by myself, the occupational therapist, as a space for students to regulate their sensory needs throughout the day. This will be done through movement, with light, and with sound. The sensory items in this project will incorporate all three of those senses. The students here deserve a space with flexible seating where they can move around freely and regulate their sensory needs during the school day to overall increase their focus and attention on their school work when they are regulated.

My goal for this project is to create a welcoming, safe and calming space where students are granted the freedom to do whatever their body needs in the moment in order to increase their success in school.

This space will be accessible for all students in the school. However, the space will mainly be geared towards the students on my specific caseload. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
