This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We love to do labs! It is our most favorite activity in science class, but unfortunately some of our supplies have worn out from so much use!
I teach 7th grade science in an inner city middle school in Connecticut.
The school I work in is a title one school where 80% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. About 95% of my students are minorities. A lot of the students are English Language Learners (ELL). My students truly enjoy coming to school everyday and learning. They are at an interesting age where school is such a large part of their developing lives.
My Project
My students genuinely enjoy learning, and they love lab days in science class. They have been used to having a lab or activity about once a week and look forward to working with others and working with their senses and supplies. We are extra careful with our supplies and they have lasted us about five years! However, we are slowly running out of specific science supplies like pipettes and graduated cylinders. Our microscopes are holding up nicely; however we only have 7 and in a class of 28 students it can be tricky to share between groups of 3 to 4 students.
These supplies will enable my students to continue performing the activities they love- for years to come.
With no science budget to purchase supplies your donation will make a huge impact in our learning!
These supplies are necessary for my students to perform hands on activity and receive a well-rounded education. They love science class and I hope that one day they may become doctors, nurses, researchers or even a science teacher! Your donation will make such a difference in their education.
