Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school in East Side San Jose, our multimedia club is more than just a camera crew. We are a movement. In a school that serves predominantly students of color, many from historically marginalized communities, we empower young storytellers to take control of the narrative of their lives, their neighborhoods, and their dreams.
With your help, we’re expanding our media equipment with professional tools, including grips, that offer precision autofocus and extended handheld shooting, empowering our students to capture sports, interviews, and original content with cinematic quality.
This project sits at the intersection of STEM and racial justice. Our students are learning real-world skills in engineering, optics, digital production, and editing. More importantly, they are using this knowledge to tell stories that matte stories that highlight community resilience, mental health, social change, and cultural pride.
